Bush Trailer Company Honest Review

Y’all! Have you heard of the Bush Trailer company? Well, you’re about to!

They’re located on Hwy 301 between Waldo and Starke and I’ve passed by there numerous times on my back and forth trips between Gainesville and St Augustine.

I’ve been looking for a 6X10 (or thereabouts) sized trailer with a budget of right around $2,000. I had just about decided to bite the bullet and get one from Tractor Supply but on a whim stopped by Bush’s on my way home from Gainesville one day to see what they had to offer.

The owner, Steve, told me straight up, “I can’t match Tractor Supply’s prices but the manufacturer I work with can beat their quality for just a few hundred dollars more.”

So we went out to the the yard to see what he had. I liked what I saw, and he was not wrong; you could tell that they really were better made than all the Tractor Supply units I had been looking at in my quest for a new trailer.

There was just one caveat and it was a big one and a problem that I’d run into with pretty much every trailer I had looked at over the past 2 years.

None of the trailers he had in my size and price range had any sides on them to speak of. Sure they all had what they call “tube top” rails running about 6-12 inches high around the bed of the trailer but I was looking for a trailer with two foot high wire mesh side walls.

I don’t have a truck; I drive a Honda Element and while I can pretty much put just about anything I need to in the back of it, I do occasionally need a trailer to haul my zero turn somewhere, move a couch, or haul 20-30 fifty pound bags of chicken feed and a trailer comes in mighty handy for those types of situations.

Having 2 foot walls surrounding your cargo is even better, in my opinion; you can load way more stuff in it and not worry about it flying off the trailer while going down the road.

When I told him exactly what I was looking for he kinda got this look on his face and said, “Can you try to work with me a little bit on the price if I try to work with you a little bit on the price?”

When I nodded in the affirmative and replied, “if you can get me a trailer with two foot sides, I’m willing to listen to what you’ve got in mind.”

He said, “I can’t GET you one like that in your price range because the shipping costs on them are astronomical and will cost way more than what you have budgeted but I CAN custom build you one for about the same price as the one you’re looking at right here.”

My jaw dropped and I said, “Let’s go talk.”

I drove out of there two weeks later with a custom trailer, built to exactly to my specifications, with 2 foot walls and I couldn’t be happier.

Did I spend a wee bit more than I was expecting to spend?

Yes, but he also took a wee bit less than he wanted to because, as he told me, while the premanufactured trailers pay the bills, what he really wants to do with his company is build his own trailers.

And boy, does he!

Because of his desire to build trailers and the ability to customize them to your specifications, I got EXACTLY what I wanted.

So, if more people like me just happen to show up over at Bush Trailer Company and just happen to be looking for a high quality, built from scratch, customized to their specifications trailer they'll be doing themselves a favor by going and having a chat with Steve.

He will do you right so let’s make his dream become a reality.

And for all you landscapers out there, the season is just right around the corner and this guy knows what he’s doing. So, if you’re looking for a brand new trailer or some custom equipment-holding attachments for your gear on the trailer you already have, Steve’s the man for the job.

So go get you one and tell him Big Pappa Yo sent ya.

You won’t be sorry!
